now who’d have thought that after all something as simple as rock & roll would save us all?

I feel like a prize idiot for sleeping on this Frank Turner fellow for so long. The London-based songwriter makes folk-punk in the vein of the beloved Billy Bragg — and we all know how much I adore that guy. I fell hard and fast for Turner’s newly released fourth album, England Keep My Bones, and soon found myself rushing to reserve a ticket online for his upcoming October stop in Vancouver (see all tour dates here). Turns out that some of my former record store co-workers are big fans of his and have been keeping him a secret from me all this time… one listen and you’ll understand just why this is so upsetting.

England Keep My Bones is easily one of my favourite records of the year thus far. It also doesn’t hurt that Frank Turner is impossibly handsome — I can’t stop watching the video for “I Still Believe”… or then there’s this one for “The Road” which follows him around as he attemps to play 24 shows within 24 hours. I mean, how can you not love a smile like that?
Thanks to the lovely Jella for the tip on this talented bugger.
