she said “losing love is like a window in your heart”

Holy crap. The Tallest Man on Earth (a.k.a. Kristian Matsson, who I’ve professed my love for before) has just taken Paul Simon’s “Graceland” and stripped it right down to its absolutely naked, heartbreaking core. The 1986 original (which Simon has said is the best song he’s ever written) was penned on a trip to Graceland following his divorce with actress Carrie Fisher. Unable to shake Kristian’s gorgeous interpretation, I’m beginning to realize that I never really listened to the lyrics properly; all of a sudden I’m hearing this song in a whole new way.

"Graceland" is one of two b-sides on the King of Spain single, sold exclusively on his European tour (damn!). Kristian’s second album, The Wild Hunt, is one of the best releases so far this year. Get your hands on a copy, stat.
