walk the river like a hunted animal

Half-asleep this morning, doing my usual early internet browse, I was suddenly stirred awake when I stumbled upon a brand new Guillemots track. Initially, I wasn’t expecting much — 2008’s Red was such a letdown compared to 2006’s from the cliFfs EP and the subsequent album Through The Window Pane. But if “Walk the River” gives any indication as to what the British band’s third effort of the same name might sound like, then I am feverishly counting down the days until April 18th. Band leader Fyfe Dangerfield (who also released a solo album a couple years back) has one of the most unique voices in music today and the song’s Arcade Fire-esque soaring chorus is perfect for showcasing it. Best new song I’ve heard in quite some time, I’d say. There’s a short film to accompany it that you can watch here.
